Knowledge of pregnant women about risk factor of cleft lip and palate at Puskesmas Mutiara, Asahan, Indonesia

Cleft is a congenital abnormal space or gap in the upper lip, alveolus, palate. This abnormality occurs between 5th and 10th weeks of pregnancy. Clefts are divided into cleft palate, as well lip palate caused by interaction individual genes with certain environmental factors. Mothers’ knowledge about risk factor may promote better health-related behavior their pregnancy increasing understanding factor. Unfortunately, until now there still limited data this. The purpose this study was to determine pregnant women descriptive that used survey method. conducted using questionnaire distributed 67 (n = 67). consisted 13 validated questions. results found 10.4% respondents had good knowledge, 32.8% moderate 56.7% poor knowledge. overall at Puskesmas Mutiara Asahan fell low category.
